Put-in-Bay Dog Bowl Brings Competitive Dock Diving to the Island

A new event is coming to Put-in-Bay this May, introducing a different kind of competition to the island.

The Put-in-Bay Dog Bowl is scheduled for Friday, May 30, at McCann Field on Toledo Avenue. The event will feature competitive dock diving, a growing canine sport that showcases trained dogs jumping from a dock into a pool of water in distance and retrieval-style competitions.

The Put-in-Bay Dog Bowl marks the first DockDogs-sanctioned event to be held on the island. While dogs must be registered competitors to participate, the event will be open to the public, allowing visitors and residents to watch throughout the day.

The competition is held in partnership with DockDogs, a national organization that hosts dock diving events across the United States and internationally. DockDogs competitions are commonly held at festivals and community events, drawing both experienced competitors and spectators.

Specific competition schedules and daily timelines have not yet been announced. The Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce notes that additional details, including timing and event logistics, will be shared as they become available.

The Put-in-Bay Dog Bowl introduces a new spectator event to the island’s 2026 events calendar, offering something different for visitors and residents early in the season.
