Gale Warning, Low Water, Freezing Spray Sweep Through Bass Islands
Islands in the Western Basin of Lake Erie feel the brunt of harsh winter storm this weekend. Low water levels expose parts of Put-in-Bay shoreline rarely seen, and WSW winds average in the upper 30 miles per hour; a gust of 50mph clocked at 8am Saturday morning at South Bass Island Lighthouse. Unfriendly conditions remain in the forecast through the end of the coming week.
