As mid-morning temperatures dropped from 12°F to 8°F in less than an hour, and the wind chill factor hit -1°F along South Bass Island’s south-eastern shore, hardy residents harnessed 1970’s technology to reach their destination. It was a first-time experience for the native Virginian.
