Lake Erie Ice Brings Out Fishers and Ice Shanties
Long-awaited Lake Erie ice delivers the iconic winter ice-fishing scenes off the West Shore of South Bass Island this weekend. While no ice is “safe ice,” thickness appears to be in the vicinity of 6″ and good enough for all-terrain-vehicles and ice shanties. The conditions may not last long, as daytime temperatures will rise to the low 40°’sF and rain is in the forecast by midweek.
