Mid-Winter Scenes Dismal for Outdoor Enthusiasts

“When do they start up again?”

Only a week ago all around the island people were ice-skating, ice-fishing, cross-country skiing, ice-boating, and walking their dogs. Today, not so much. Above-freezing temperatures, drizzle, and stiff winds create a gray, mushy, and generally blah environment. Even flights to/from the mainland are cancelled due to poor visibility, which means no grocery, mail or package deliveries. A wintry mix of precipitation remains in the forecast for this afternoon and overnight. Temperatures will dip into the teens, and 1-3 inches of sleet and snow are possible. All part of island life!

Brave souls give it one more try.
