PiB Property AssociationPut-in-Bay Property Owners Association held an informative meeting on Saturday, 24 July 2023.

Sheriff Levorchick and Chief Kimble

Put-in-Bay Police Chief James Kimble and Ottawa County Sheriff Stephen Levorchick explained the mutual aid between Village and Township police services after Township Trustee Chris Cooper recapped the decision to hire the Ottawa County Sheriff for police services in the Township.  Specific topics included police shortages, salaries, services, updated radio coverage of the islands, and policing transition.

Kathi Spayde, Web Administrator for the Put-in-Bay Property Owners Association, stated, “The two governments appeared to handle the transition and current interaction between the policing entities in an exemplary and harmonious fashion.  Leadership between the Village and the Township worked diligently to ensure that safety of island residents was paramount both during and after the transition.”

Put-in-Bay Mayor Berry spoke about police shortages, future policing and funding concerns, and the possibility of a united Put-in-Bay government.  Regarding the recently implemented parking ordinance, Ms. Berry said, “Hang loose on parking permits.  We’re not there, yet.  I don’t know if we’ll ever be.”  The ordinance is not being enforced at this time.
