Put-in-Bay Dreaming of a White Christmas

It looks like Put-in-Bay might enjoy a White Christmas this year!

Christmas Day 2020

The National Weather Service Office in Cleveland, Ohio, reveals data which fuels those who dream of a White Christmas in 2022.  Below are excerpts of the text products issued at 12:52 PM this afternoon.

“Well, folks – Some of you have been dreaming too much of a White Christmas and it appears that your wish will be more than granted late this week. Model consensus is improving on a potent low pressure system forming over the eastern continental U.S. on Thursday and moving through the Great Lakes region on Friday and Saturday. This system is expected to bring extremely cold temperatures, strong winds, and the potential for widespread accumulating snowfall through the end of the week.”

“Around Thursday night, the low should finally form and an Arctic front will whisk through the area and temperatures will plummet, rain will change over to snow, and the quick decrease in temperatures could allow for some flash freezing.”

“In summary, an impactful storm system is expected for the end of the week . . . travel impacts should be anticipated from Thursday night through Saturday regardless of final totals. This will be a forecast to stay tuned on through the week as details become clearer. Folks with plans late in the week would benefit greatly from evaluating any flexibility, as that could be needed.”
