Bird banding experiences with the Bartletts is a great opportunity to engage with nature and to experience birds really up close.
Middle Bass Island:
Tom and Paula Bartlett will be at the Middle Bass Island East Point Preserve banding birds starting today, Sunday, April 28 until noon on Friday, 3 May 2024. They band from sunrise until about 3pm every day, weather permitting. If you visit, this event is located at the end of a private drive. Please drive through gate at the preserve to park near the banding station and avoid blocking the entrance. Do not park in private drives outside the gate.
South Bass Island:
Tom and Paula Bartlett will be at the Barnhill property (former Vineyard Bed and Breakfast) for bird banding May 5-9 and May 12-15 from sunrise to about 3pm every day. There, banding is open to the public except for Wednesday mornings May 7 and May 14. They will be open sunrise to noon on May 16. There will be a sign marked Bird Banding showing where to turn. If you reach Scheeff East Point Preserve you have gone too far. Pull back past the two homes and park before the red barn at the banding station.
