Spring Flower Symbolizes New Season

With Palm Sunday around the corner, and Easter clearly on the horizon, people understand spring is a season of fresh beginnings.  It seems appropriate to share information generally known by horticulturists and naturalists, but not necessarily by those of us who often describe nature by its exterior — “furry animal” and “yellow bird” come to mind.  An Oxford botanical journal explains the symbolic relevance of the crocus flower to spring: “As a symbol plant crocus is a messenger of floral resurrection and in this respect also relevant to us in our cultural view of botany. Thus, crocus may be regarded as a plant of encouragement.”  Put-in-Bay Daily™ wishes all a rejuvenating and successful business season.  And to all Bass Islands visitors, “Welcome Friends!”
