As many of you know, the Nature & Wildlife Center has not been able to open this summer due to safety concerns and construction delays from the Covid-19 pandemic. Like many businesses, this has caused quite a bit of financial strain for the Nature & Wildlife Center.  Due to the strict (but necessary) health and safety guidelines, The Center canceled  the majority of their fundraisers; in fact, the Pig Roast To Go & Online Auction is the only major fundraiser this year.  All of the proceeds from the Online Auction and Pig Roast tickets will go to our general fund (operating costs & wages) for the Nature & Wildlife Center.  Please take a look at the amazing auction items and place your bids!  Your money is going to a great cause to help the Nature & Wildlife Center continue our education programming. From Nature Camp and school groups, to tours at the Center, we do our best to promote the conservation of and education about the flora, fauna, and lands of the Lake Erie Islands for both islanders and island visitors.

We greatly appreciate your continued support of the Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center!

Be well,

Nature & Wildlife Center Revises Camp Procedures

Put in Bay Nature CenterNature Camp at Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center (LEINWC) has been a huge part of island summers for many kids over the years and will be for years to come. This year with the pandemic, we have decided to do camp differently. We will not be holding in-person camp as we usually do, but will instead be providing activity kits for campers to do on their own or with their families at home and around the islands. These kits will have all the activities (and more!) that they would have done during camp. As always, they will get lots of goodies in their Camp bags, this year including a nice drawstring bag. We are working on several different ways to ensure a fun and meaningful experience for our campers while learning about bugs and exploring the islands.

We are extremely disappointed that we cannot run camp like normal this summer; however, the safety of our campers and their families, as well as our staff and volunteers, is our utmost priority.  Despite this unusual situation, we are working hard to provide a fun island experience to all campers who register! I have attached the registration forms for both Put-in-Bay and Middle Bass Island. Please email or call us with any questions. We hope you will consider supporting the Nature & Wildlife Center by registering your kids for camp this summer!
