Ohio State University’s Stone Lab offers exceptional tours of Gibraltar Island and the research conducted there. Take the Boardwalk Water Taxi, at 9:45am or 12:45pm on Thursdays, to witness the island life of aquatic researchers!
Lake Erie webcams are plentiful, but our favorite is the view from Ohio State University’s Gibraltar Island classcam. May your week be strong and proud as Perry’s Monument!
Gibraltar Island tours are available from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. on Wednesdays through August 8, 2018. Groups tour the island, including Perry’s Lookout, the glacial grooves, and the exterior of Cooke Castle before learning more about Stone Lab research.
The water taxi to Gibraltar Island is $6 round-trip, payable to the captain.
The wonderful folks at OSU Gibraltar continue to serve the island community even as snow and ice envelope the Bass Islands. Don’t miss the superb live-camera views looking at Lake Erie’s South Channel, Put-in-Bay Harbor, and Middle Bass Island!
