Dogs Will Take Over Put-in-Bay During Inaugural Dog Bowl This Weekend
Put-in-Bay is going to the dogs this weekend — in the best way possible.
The inaugural Put-in-Bay Dog Bowl is set for May 29–30 at McCann’s Field, bringing two days of DockDogs competition, spectators, vendors and plenty of four-legged visitors to the island.
Hosted in partnership with DockDogs, the event will feature dogs launching off a dock into a massive pool while competing in events including Big Air, Extreme Vertical and Speed Retrieve.
But the weekend isn’t just for competitors.
Organizers are also encouraging visitors to bring their dogs to the island as part of a fun community goal to see how many dogs can be counted on Put-in-Bay during the event weekend.
Dog owners can stop by the orange registration tent at McCann’s Field on Saturday to have their dog counted and receive a free sticker and bandana while supplies last.
“There’s no catch — just a fun, unofficial goal to pack the island with as many dogs as possible,” organizers said in a recent social media post promoting the event.
Competition begins Friday afternoon with onsite registration and practice rounds before continuing Saturday with a full lineup of DockDogs events and finals throughout the day.

Both Jet Express and Miller Ferry also allow dogs aboard their ferries.
