Put-in-Bay School November Newsletter
Time has been flying by here at Put-In-Bay School. We have such great kids here and they make this school a great place to be.
The end of the first nine weeks is October 28. Report cards will go home on Friday, November 4. Parents should contact their child’s teachers if they have any questions. If a conference is necessary, we can arrange for a parent/teacher conference on a date/time convenient to all parties. Please contact the school office if you need to meet with more than one teacher–we can arrange for a small group parent/teacher meeting. Our planned Parent/Teacher conferences are set for November 9th. Teachers will be available all day on the 9th, from 8:00am-3:40pm.
The Put-In-Bay Cross Country team, coached by Adam Danes, finished the regular season on October 8th with a meet in Huron at BGSU Firelands. So far, 6 out of the 10 student-athletes have achieved some sort of award/medal/ribbon for their race times. All 10 runners have run a personal record time this year, which shows that dedication and practice pays-off. The high school runners competed in Districts this year in Napoleon, Ohio, on October 22nd.
The 2022 Panther volleyball team has seen much success on the court this season. The team’s record stands at 10 wins and 7 losses. This team has set the record for most wins in a season–WOW! The season has seen many individual game records fall. Ava Heineman broke the single-game assist record with 19 assists, Lilian Frederick and Macy Ladd both share the single-game kill record with 21 kills, and Macy Ladd set the single-game dig record at 21. The team only consists of six players, but they battled and overcame major adversity to find success. Great job!
October 12th the school had an assembly sponsored by the Ottawa County Drug Task Force to promote Red Ribbon Week. Officer Johnson talked with grades 4-12 about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. October 24th-28th is Red Ribbon Week for all students and staff. This week is dedicated to drug awareness. Each day the students dress to acknowledge the dangers of drug abuse.

On October 28th the high school gym will be awakened at 6am for the traditional start of Panther Basketball. The first weekend in December the Panthers travel to Beaver Island, Michigan for the fourth annual Great Lakes Island Tournament. The women’s team looks to win their fourth title, while the men’s squad seek their first win. Beaver Island and Mackinac Island will participate in this islands tradition. “Get Your Growl On!”

Put-In-Bay School has exploded with Family-ties. Every student is in a Panther Family. Panther families include students in grades K-12 along with teachers, custodial, and office personnel. There are a total of six families in the building. The families meet every month to do a character-building activity. Each Family has its own family name. In October each family made a candy corn and toothpick structure. The structures were judged and rewarded. This endeavor is a great success, thus far.
